Job Summary:

Oregon Oncology is looking for a compassionate and caring Medical Assistant. This position provides professional care for clinic patients under the supervision of the daily physician or advanced practice provider(s). Facilitates daily schedule management including rooming patients and completing accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record. Functions primarily as the patient flow facilitator for the provider(s) using critical thinking and problem-solving strategies.

Job Functions Include:

  • Records patient’s medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records
  • Prepares treatment rooms for patient examination, keeping the rooms neat and clean
  • Interviews patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight and height
  • Shows patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician
  • Prepares and administers medications as directed by the physician
  • Gives medically appropriate instructions to patients under the direction of a Physician or Advanced Practice Provider (APP)
  • Ensures all related patient information is in electronic record prior to appointment
  • Prepares FMLA, prior authorizations and disability paperwork
  • Collaborates and works closely with other medical assistants and ancillary staff
  • Willing to travel and work at satellite clinics in McMinnville, Silverton and Woodburn on a limited basis
  • Contributes to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers by following established standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
  • Performs all other duties assigned by supervisor

Required Qualifications:

  • Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant
  • Must have strong computer skills, including the ability to work with medical software
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to work with a diverse patient population
  • Manage multiple changing priorities in an effective, organized manner
  • Experience with office medical procedures and treatments and knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR and scheduling software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Spanish Speaking preferred
  • Oncology clinic experience ideal
